Kindergarten - Morning

Description: This class is intended to provide learning experiences for your 5-6 year old who is not quite ready to switch classes every period of the morning. We will loosely base our schedule like this: We begin our day with PE (play time in the gym after chapel) and snack. Then we return to our room for large group time where we introduce our theme of the day. We then move to crafts and learning experiences related to our theme – on any given week we will emphasize areas including but not limited to… art, phonics, math, science, bible, history, cooking and music. We also have free play time. The first semester (fall) we will base our learning on the books of Eric Carle. At the end of the 10 weeks, your child will have an Eric Carle notebook/lapbook containing the activities that we have done about the books. The second semester (spring) we will base our learning on the books of Jan Brett. We will do a Jan Brett Notebook as well. These notebooks will be great displays for our annual Co-op Expo held at the end of the year! There will be times that we will ask you to bring items pertaining to the lesson--this will be posted on the NELCHA message board.

Two Semester

Supplies: 1 gallon sized box ziplocs 1 quart sized box ziplocs 1 pack colored construction paper 1 pack manilla paper 1 pack washable markers 4 glue sticks It is not necessary to label your supplies. We sort everything and keep in a rolling cart in our classroom for class use. Also, after class starts, each family will be asked to bring one additional art supply (We don’t need 12 sets of washable paint, 12 bottles of glitter or 12 packages of paintbrushes) so we will assign an extra art supply for each family to bring to help with our year.

Homework: No

Student Requirements: The child should be fully potty trained, able to sit still for 10-15 minutes at a time and able to listen and follow directions.
